FIFA U-17 Cup: Nigeria faces Iran in
second round Tuesday

Abuja -  The line-up for the second round of the
2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the UAE was
completed on Friday with Nigeria billed to face Iran
on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
The last games in the third series of first round
group matches were played on Friday evening in
Dubai and Al Ain City.
The matches were in Groups E and F and they
ensured the emergence of the last qualifiers for the
eight Round of 16 matches.
The games are billed to for Oct. 28 and Oct. 29 at
six venues.
Nigeria had qualified after topping Group F with
seven points from three matches, following 6-1 and
5-0 wins over Mexico and Iraq respectively, and a
3-3 draw with Sweden.
The Golden Eaglets will on Tuesday, Oct. 29 face
Iran in the last second round match, billed for Al Ain
City at 4 p.m. Nigerian time.
Iran had qualified after coming second in Group E,
after one win and two draws for five points from
three games.
In other pairings, Group B runners-up Italy will face
Group F runners-up and defending champions
Mexico on Monday, Oct. 28.
Japan who topped Group D will take on Sweden who
finished third from Group F, while Brazil who led
Group A will take on Russia, who were third from
Group D.
In the last game for Monday, Oct. 28, Honduras who
were Group A runners-up will face Group C
runners-up Uzbekistan.
On Tuesday, Oct. 29, Uruguay who led Group B will
take on Slovakia who were third in Group A, with the
winners awaiting the winners of the Nigeria/Iran
clash.
Group C leaders Morocco will also take on African
champions Cote d’Ivoire who had finished third from
Group B, while Group E winners Argentina face
Group D runners-up Tunisia.
NAN reports that winners of the eight matches will
advance to the quarter-finals scheduled for Friday,
Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2.
The competition had began on Oct. 17 and will end
on Nov. 8.(NAN)
