Police Want Cóndoms Banned In Edinburgh's Saunas

Police are
pushing
for
cóndoms
to be
banned
from
Edinburgh's
licensed
saunas.
The move comes as the city council weighs up
whether to grant licenses for five saunas in the
Scottish capital.
Police Scotland argues the authority should only
grant licenses if items of a séxual nature are
prohibited on the premises.
However, the séx workers' charity Scot-pep says
the police's proposal could lead to an HIV
epidemic.
A council decision on new licence rules could
end Edinburgh's more tolerant attitude to the
séx trade.
Campaigners say that any ban on cóndoms
would result in unprotected séx and higher
rates of HIV and other séxually transmitted
infections.
Earlier this year, six other saunas had their
licences suspended following raids across
Edinburgh.
